Travel Speaker
Following an industrial design methodology, the goal of this project was to engage with digital modelling and rendering to design a portable speaker to fill a specific market opportunity. The next task was then to create a working prototype, primarily using additive manufacturing to create the enclosure.
My specific market opportunity centered around how it is difficult to carry a speaker on a bicycle as current designs on the market either weren't the correct size or shape to fit onto existing carrying solutions e.g drink bottle cages. They also aren't able to function due to button placement. My design needed to be able to fit a wide range of bottle cage shapes and styles as well as sit securely on the bicycle whilst being able to be operated by the rider. Additional functions to make the speaker more usable include it having an internal battery so it doesn't need an external power source as well as a Bluetooth module so it can be operated remotely by a user.
